The Oratory Of St. Philip Neri

Toronto Ontario Canada

The Oratory Children’s Choir (OCC) was founded by the Director, Katharine Mahon, in March 2004.  This 25-voice choir of young singers aged 8 to 18 leads the singing at Holy Family Church throughout the school year at the Mass on Saturday evenings at 5:00 p.m.
The choir is a member of the Royal School of Church Music and has sung at St Michael’s Cathedral (Toronto), St Mary’s Church (Collingwood), Maria Auxiliatrice (Montreal), and, most recently, St Thomas More (Niagara Falls, ON).
In December 2005, the choir was asked to sing on a commercial CD by the popular singer Susan Aglukark. In the past two years, the choir has entered four classes at the Kiwanis Festival and earned First Place in every class entered, plus awarded a scholarship this year.
The OCC participated in the Laval International Choral Festival in July 2006 as the highlight of their Ottawa-Montreal tour. Plans for the future include a trip to England in 2011.

What is the choir singing on Sundays?

Click on the parish bulletin icon to the left for the music list.  Depending on what day of the week you check, you will either find out what the choir is going to sing on Sunday or what it has sung on Sunday. (There is a date printed in the bulletin file so you will not have to guess.)   The bulletin is a PDF file, so you will need Adobe’s free Acrobat Reader (see left column).
